Power Rankings after Round 14: Royals on top, Lynx and Dragons closing in
A third of the regular season is in the books. Our weekly ranking weighs the standings, the underlying numbers and the form of the last ten games, and this week it has a surprise from Vorarlberg at No. 2 and a crisis in Wiener Neustadt.
Fourteen rounds, 84 games, 503 goals. The first third of the 2026/27 season has produced a clear leader, a surprise contender from Vorarlberg and a club that is still waiting for a regulation win. Here is how we see the league heading into Round 15.
1. Royals Vienna (1st, 32 pts, 9-1-3-1)
Nine straight wins to open the season, the best defence in the league (22 goals against, nobody else is under 29) and a goaltending tandem that has barely blinked: Philipp Binder (.948) was among the league's best until a lower-body injury on October 16, and Armin Steiner (.937 overall) has had to carry the load since. The only question is the attack, which has scored just 38 times. The Royals have won just one of their last five games, the latest setback a 1-0 overtime loss in Graz on Sunday. The front office has heard the question, see today's news from Donau Arena.
2. Dornbirn Lynx (2nd, 29 pts, 8-2-1-3)
The best story of the autumn. Martin Eklund leads the league in save percentage (.959) and goals-against average (1.29) with two shutouts, and Tobias Höller is the league's player of the month with 18 October points. The Lynx have outscored opponents 53-29, the best differential in the league, and their only wobble is a penalty kill at 83.0 percent.
3. Klagenfurt Dragons (3rd, 27 pts, 6-3-3-2)
Six wins in a row, the league's most prolific offence (57 goals) and the league's leading goal scorer in Raphael Heim (12, including four in the 7-0 rout at Steyr). Urban Fajdiga's +13 is the best plus/minus in the league. Three of the last six wins needed overtime or a shootout, which is the only reason the Dragons are not higher.
4. Graz Thunder (4th, 25 pts, 6-3-1-4)
The Classic went to Graz on Sunday, 1-0 in overtime, with Blake Moore stopping all 32 shots. That was the exception: Moore's .887 save percentage is the weak point of an otherwise balanced team with a 20.4 percent power play.
5. Villach Ravens (5th, 23 pts, 7-1-0-6)
Seven regulation wins, one more than Klagenfurt. The Ravens also own the comeback of the season: down 3-0 at Klagenfurt on October 2, they won 6-5 in overtime. Bobby Ford (17 points, +12) drives the top line.
6. Salzburg Ice Barons (7th, 22 pts, 4-4-2-4)
The special-teams paradox: the best power play in the league (29.2 percent) next to the third-worst penalty kill (75.0 percent). Sami Lindroos (.928) keeps them in games they should lose; two straight losses beyond regulation show how thin the margins are. Lukas Neuhold's 11 goals are second in the league.
7. Linz Steel Wolves (6th, 22 pts, 7-0-1-6)
Two wins in a row, a solid Matic Ažman in goal, and now a hole in the middle: see the transfer news of the day. Tim Pötscher (14 points) and Johannes Pfeiffer (12) must carry more.
8. Steyr Hammers (8th, 21 pts, 6-0-3-5)
Hanging on to the last playoff spot with a 13.3 percent power play and a minus-8 goal differential. The 7-0 home loss to Klagenfurt was the heaviest defeat of the season by any team. Niklas Jung (15 points) is the exception to a quiet offence.
9. St. Pölten Lions (9th, 18 pts, 5-1-1-7)
The league's scoring leader Christoph Wimmer (27 points) and Kryštof Zelenka (20) play here, which makes the 54 goals against and the 71.4 percent penalty kill all the more frustrating. Five wins in the last ten games suggest the Lions are coming.
10. Innsbruck Peaks (10th, 17 pts, 5-1-0-8)
Injuries have hollowed out the roster: top centre Kevin Wallace (broken hand), captain Paul Grill (muscle tear) and Konstantin Fasching are all out until mid-November. A 25.9 percent power play keeps the Peaks competitive on good nights.
11. Bregenz Mariners (11th, 11 pts, 3-1-0-10)
Four straight losses and only 27 goals scored, second-fewest in the league. Robert Rauscher (12 points) is the lone bright spot in an attack that needs help.
12. Wiener Neustadt Knights (12th, 5 pts, 0-1-3-10)
No regulation win in 14 games, a 5.2 percent power play and a nine-game losing streak that lasted a month. The signing of goaltender Liam Thériault on October 9 has stabilised the crease; the rest is still searching.
